Darrien White - Career Goal Essay

I have a lot of dream jobs but the first thing that comes to mind is to play in the N.B.A. I have many people doubt and criticize me on my dream, but I’ve never allowed them to tell me my future because I control that, not them.

The thing that has influenced me the most would be me attending the New York Knicks game versus the Los Angeles Lakers. At this game I saw my favorite player and arguably the greatest player on the planet of earth, Kobe Bryant. I didn’t just get to watch him, but I also witnessed history were Kobe Bryant scorched the Knicks for an outstanding 61 points. That just didn’t show me how good he was, but it also gave me confidence saying that, that can be me in a few years. The influence that I expect the City Rocks AAU-14 black travel team to have on my life and my career is a great influence. This is because I am going to learn how to play much more smart while at the same time aggressive and to help me become a better player for my huge year for my varsity basketball team at the Albany Academies. I hope I mature a lot and become the best point guard I can be for every other team I would join later on in life.

On a scale form 1-10 I rate my academic effort in the past year about a 7 or an 8. This is because I have not been not working up to my compatibilities and “slacking off” in my studies. Even though I have made honors and my parents are proud of my grades, I also feel there is much room for improvement.
