City Rocks point guard Kevin Huerter showed off his advanced playmaking skills throughout the first weekend of the 2015 Circuit in Hampton. As a result, Huerter is receiving a lot of love from college coaches from around the country that took notice of his all-around game. Huerter is a winner that looks to get his teammates involved early and often, and he sees plays before they happen. Nate Bucsko had a chance to catch up with Huerter to talk about his big weekend and what it will take for City Rocks to stay on the winning path.

Nate Bucsko: How did the first session go for you?

Kevin Huerter: It went really well, I had a pretty good weekend and our team went 3-1 so it was a good first session.

NB: Is there anything that you felt you did particularly well? Why do you think you were able to play so well?

KH: Overall I shot pretty well, and I found my teammates in spot they were comfortable to score in. I think the key was staying in control and keeping my composure against the constant pressure and good defenders to just trust myself.

NB: Is there anything that helped your team (City Rocks) play well?

KH: Yeah, we ran our sets and plays well and we found each other open looks. A lot of the guys on the team have been playing together for a couple of years, and the chemistry shows on the court. We had a lot of different guys contribute.

NB: That being said, where do you see room for improvement heading into Session II?

KH: We need to keep working defensively, keeping guys in front of us and making sure we are rebounding on both ends of the floor.

NB: With all the college coaches constantly in the stands to see you all play, is there an element of your game or personality that you want to show off and stand out?

KH: Not any one thing specifically, I just want to show that I am an unselfish player who can play multiple positions and impact the game in many different ways.

NB: What is your favorite part about being around your teammates?

KH: They're just fun to be around, always joking around and having fun. Nobody is jealous of anyone else, and we're all on the same mission which is to win games.

NB: I know it's still early, but what will it take for you guys to get to Peach Jam?

KH: Everyone playing hard every single game, following what our coaches are saying, and sticking together.

NB: Is there a certain moment when you realized you could play at this level or did you always know?

KH: No, I felt that I always had it in me; just had to prove it.

NB: Who is your biggest fan?

KH: Definitely my mom.

NB: What are some of your other hobbies outside of ball?

KH: I play other sports, mainly golf and baseball.

NB: Any other big plans for the summer, basketball or otherwise?

KH: Nothing too big, just looking to start taking visits and keep working out to get stronger.
