Regional Rosters Revealed for 16th Annual Jordan Brand Classic

Beaverton, OR – Now in its 16th year, the Jordan Brand Classic, presented by American Family Insurance, has announced the Regional roster for this year’s game. The Regional Boys game will showcase east coast talent from Connecticut, Georgia, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Vermont and Washington D.C.
 
The game will take place on Friday, April 14, 2017 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York as part of a quadruple-header. First up will be a Global Showcase featuring young athletes from around the world, followed by the east coast’s finest in the Regional game. The National Girls will hit the court next, followed by the highly anticipated National Boys game.
The 2017 Jordan Brand Classic Regional roster is attached. The roster for the Global Teams will be announced in the coming weeks. The previously announced National Boys and Girls rosters can be seen at JordanBrandClassic.com.
 
The Jordan Brand Classic is not only an honor for elite players, but for the top coaches in the high school game as well. This year’s National Boys East Team will be led by Steve Turner (Gonzaga College HS; Washington, D.C.), John Mosco (Archbishop Wood HS; Warminster, PA), and Shane Heirman (La Lumiere; La Porte, IN), while the West will be coached by Fred Johnson (Greensboro Day School; Greensboro, NC), Paul Washington (Findlay Prep; Henderson, NV), and George Washington (Pebblebrook HS; Mableton, GA).
 
For the National Girls East squad, Randy Coffman (Riverdale HS; Murfreesboro, TN), Karen Weitz (Centennial HS; Las Vegas, NV), and Kirk Pointer (Georgia Pistols; Kennesaw, GA) will be at the helm, with Jan Azar (Wesleyan School; Norcross, GA), Tony Smith (Homewood-Flossmoor HS; Flossmoor, IL), and Kara Leary (New England Crusaders; Nashua, NH) leading the West.
 
Regionally, Billy Turnage and Michael Salvatore from Wings Academy (Bronx, NY) have been selected to coach the Blue Team and Dwayne Mitchell and Rudy King from Monsignor Scanlon HS (Bronx, NY) will be leading the Red Team. For the International Game, the Blue Team will be coached by Roy Rana (Ryerson University; Toronto, CAN) and the Red Team will be led by Herman Harried (Lake Clifton HS; Baltimore, MD).
